Australia weathered severe storms over the weekend, with more than 4.2 million lightning strikes recorded across the country.
The most severe storms hit Adelaide on Saturday afternoon in a devastating squall line before moving through South Australia and New South Wales to reach Sydney late Sunday morning. These storms caused significant damage to South Australia and caused the state’s worst power outages since 2016.
The Total Lightning Network Weatherzone recorded just over 4,213,700 lightning strikes over Australia over the weekend.
